How to Read Chinese in Your Browsers

The following is only a brief description, I will give more details when I have time. Linux: You have the best system in the world. If you use Netscape browser, Chinese is ready for you: from top menu, select View->Encoding, then choose Simplified Chinese (GB) or Traditional Chinese (Big5), depending your page coding. Unix: You may need to install Chinese X fonts, which can be found here (choose gb or big5, then choose bdf or hbf). Installation is fairly simple, see here for detailed procedures. For general information about Chinese fonts under X-windows, check here.
Note: Some Unix version of Netscape 4.5 has built in Chinese X fonts, therefore you can read Chinese directly.Windows 95/98/NT: There are usually two ways:
The simplest way (in my opinoin) is installing Internet Explorer 5. See here for details.
Get so-called "add-on" software. You may try any of the following sites for free trial versions:
UnionWay
RichWin
NJStar
TwinBridge
The good thing of "add-on" softwares is that they will turn your windows into Chinese environment, therefore you may read or write Chinese in NotePad, WordPad, Paint, Word, etc. For further information, please check here.Window 95 Only: You may download the test version of RichWin97 for Internet here (S/N: RW21-419601-0794), which does not have 30 day restriction.
Note: If you don't have WinZip installed, you may download it from here.Macintosh: It seems nothing is free on Mac, check following sites:
